Mom-Mom's Shoo-Fly Pie

1 1/2 c. flour              450 degree oven
1/2 c. sugar                10 minutes
2 tbsp. shortening
1/2 c. molasses             350 degree oven
1/2 c. hot water            20 minutes
1/2 tsp. baking soda
unbaked pie crust

Makes one pie

Combine flour and sugar. Cut in shortening. Set aside. Combine water and molasses. Stir in baking soda. Put 2/3 of dry mixture in pie crust. Pour wet mixture over dry mixture. Sprinkle remaining dry mixture on top. Bake in 450 degree oven for 10 minutes; reduce temperature to 350 degrees and bake an additional 20 minutes. Cool before serving.
