Esther's Spaghetti

Back in the old days, the only ready-made spaghetti sauce you could buy at the store was Chef Boy-Ar-Dee, so if you wanted to have good spaghetti, you had to make it yourself. These days, every supermarket has half an aisle of tasty sauces, but if you want the satisfaction of making it yourself, here's a primo recipe.

There's no secret ingredient. The secret is just letting it cook for half a day.

1 1/2 - lbs. lean ground beef
1 lg. can tomato puree
1 lg. can tomato sauce
1 package spatini (seasoning)
1 minced onion
1 clove garlic (crushed)
1/4 c. parsley
1 bay leaf
1 tsp. oregano
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. pepper
1 lb. fresh mushrooms

Brown meat. Add all ingredients except mushrooms. Simmer at least 3 hours. Add sliced mushrooms for final twenty minutes.
